hela Sverige As a Mechanical Engineer with lab focus, you work with many different things. The main focus is within mechanical properties, but you also contribute with general engineering knowledge in several areas.
A main task is method development, this can include everything from small adjustments like making a new program to participate in development of totally new test methods. Further you help to keep the laboratory updated and in good shape and support your colleagues with practical advice on how testing can be conducted. When needed, you also help out by conducting tests yourself. One other important area is to contribute with your knowledge to research and development projects, which, depending on the project's needs, may involve everything from theoretical aspects to recommending testing approaches and setting up test matrices. You respond to customers' questions and carry out studies for customers, often of both a theoretical and practical nature.
We are looking for someone with thorough knowledge of mechanical engineering. You have a M.sc. degree in Materials engineering. Several years of work experience or research in relevant fields are advantageous. Most important for you to thrive on in this position is that you are an laboratory engineer with the ability to carry out practical work.
You are a doer that work hands om with the test setup and equipment. You have comprehensive practical and theoretical knowledge in mechanical testing methodology, as well as several years' experience with relevant method development. The mechanical testing experience should preferably include fatigue testing, experience also of tensile testing, impact testing and creep testing are advantageous as is experience of corrosion or heat treatment. To be able to work with our test equipment you need an understanding of hydraulics, mechanics, electrical connections and computers. Your computer and electronics skills are good, so that you can support the unit with problem solving regarding computer hardware and software. Also having the ability to work with the interface between computers and our equipment is a great advantage. General materials knowledge and specific knowledge of Sandvik's materials and applications is a plus. As we work in an international company, you need very good skills in English, in both speaking and writing. To be well-suited to this position, you also need to be able to carry out informal conversation in Swedish.

The Mechanical Metallurgy and Corrosion unit contributes expertise in mechanical properties and corrosion. Our role is to provide advanced competencies in the areas of corrosion, mechanical properties, heat treatment and sample preparation; to generate high-quality test results; and to develop both new and existing test methods. We work with a broad spectrum of methods: everything from standardized testing methods to complex methods of our own design.
