Transformers is a business line within ABB's Power Grids division. The business line manufactures power transformers, reactors and transformer components including bushings and tap changers. The unit also supplies electrical insulation materials, fiber composite materials, machined and welded components.
You will be part of the global R&D team of BU Transformers, powered by about 250 engineers located in 12 countries.
Working in R&D will give you the possibilities to use your creativity to solve a wide spectrum of challenges. You will have exciting and varied work in front of you where you will get a broad network internally and externally. Work with both the local factory and the global organization within Bushings and have career development opportunities as a Specialist or as a Project Manager.
Your responsibilities
Creating conceptual designs of Bushings to meet specified requirements (functional, technical, quality, etc...).
Running mechanical verifications using simulation tools.
Detailed design and 3D modeling using PTC CREO;
Running Design for Excellence practices (DFA, DFM, FMEA, etc...).
Managing technical documentation in PTC Windchill.
Working in an organization running technology and product development projects.
Interacting with different functions within the Organization, such as Procurement & Logistics, Quality & Operational Excellence, etc... in order to ensure broad acceptance of the developed solutions.
Interacting with external Suppliers during the product development phase.
Managing technical risk for the developed solutions.
Preparing reports and related documents in accordance with internal and external requirements;

Your background
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
2+ Years of experience in Design & Engineering.
Domain expertise in Bushings, including the main International Standards (IEC, IEEE, ...) is a plus.
Fundamental knowledge of using different materials and manufacturing methods.
Understanding of electrical and thermal phenomena.
Advanced knowledge of 3D CAD software Creo/ProE, as well as PLM software Windchill.
Excellent command of 3D modeling and2D drawings generation; automation of 3D models is a plus.
Fluent command of English, both written and spoken;
You are analytical and capable of grasping the bigger picture and understanding complex systems.
You are self-motivated and independent, proactively proposing ideas to meet and possibly exceed the expected results.
You challenge the established practices and come up with original solutions.
You work in a structured and systematic way, meeting deadlines and ensuring the right level of quality for the assigned deliveries.
You are a Team player and you have very good communication skills.
