What you will be a part of
Saab Kockums provides design, construction and in-service support for advanced naval systems such as surface combatants and submarines to the Swedish Armed Forces and other customers worldwide. Our product portfolio consist of the air-independent Stirling system, mine countermeasure systems and submarine rescue systems amongst other. Saab Kockums operate in Karlskrona, Malmö, Muskö, Järfälla and Singapore.

At the department Mechanical Systems, Power Conversion and Safety, we obtain and develop mechanical systems for both surface vessels and submarines. The biggest challenge for us is the new development of the submarine A26, but we also work with other products such as further development and maintenance of existing submarines and multiple surface vessels as well as research projects. We have many contact areas and cooperate with other internal subsystems and disciplines as well as with international subcontractors.
The section consists of about 25 persons working in Malmö and Karlskrona. You will work from our central office at the lovely Dockan in Malmö. As mechanical engineer, you will have 5-20 days of travel/year.
Your role
We are looking for a mechanical engineer to strengthen the section in areas such as propulsion, diesel systems and energy systems. In your role, you will be to be responsible for the system throughout the product development process. You will work with system requirements and specifications and develop system solution and also be responsible for the technical part of procurement of subcontractor systems and subcontractors. At the end of the project the focus is on verifying and deploying the system. Part of the work is internal and external presentations of the systems.
The work is conducted in smaller teams with engaged and competent employees who will welcome and help you find your way in the community and into the technology.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for an outgoing person with high drive and good ability and willingness to collaborate with others, create relationships and networks. You are prestigeless, take initiatives, can work independently and with structure in your work. Previous experience in development of larger systems incorporating components of various kind is a merit.Appropriate educational background is an engineer in machine, energy, marine engineer or equivalent. Driver's license is not required but preferable.
