Mechanical Engineer - Cabinets & Cubicles
Position Summary:
The main purpose of this position is to take responsibility for the (mechanical) design area of cabinets and cubicles throughout the project's life cycle in close relation to the electrical design for the same product. Proper designed products like cabinets and cubicles are a prerequisite for a good (mechanical) function, for a time and cost efficient installation work and for a good visual impression and the overall quality of the vehicle.
The position can later be extended with a product responsibility for cabinets & cubicles as well as mechanical integration on overall vehicle level. As such coordinate the mechanical detail design work and act as a link between system and detail design with connection to production. This work is carried out in close relation to the other mechanical and electrical integrators.
The major objective of this position is to secure that products like cabinets and cubicles are properly defined, designed and prepared for installation on the vehicle.
Key Accountabilities:
Produce the necessary technical documents that are required for purchase, production, verification and installation of cabinets and cubicles. This includes e.g. interface and requirements documents (TRS), product drawings, test procedures, etc.
Participate in regular design meetings and reviews during the project design phases; both internally with other engineering disciplines and externally with customers and other stakeholders.
Conceptual design of cabinets and cubicles; modeling of components.
Detail design of cabinets and cubicles; generation of part lists, mechanical detailed drawing, purchase drawings and test procedures.
Support for the area of responsibility, to procurement / strategic supply, sub-suppliers and production.
Take responsibility for development of own competence and the technical area including the process, the M-CAD system used and other tools.
Skills and Abilities required:
Have a good ability to collect and contribute to the overall (vehicle) design.
Be structured and have a good sense for details without loosing the complete picture.
Be experienced with mechanical design, (3D-) modeling, material and associated tool sets, e.g. mechanical (and electrical) CAD drawings.
Have a good ability to and experience of work in big projects and have an ability to communicate clearly in the interface to many project members.
Have a good ability to understand and establish the linkage between the functional and the physical installation view of the domain.
Be open for changes and further development of the design area.
Have a capability to perform in an international operating environment and a willingness to travel - e.g. our vehicle production facilities are located in Germany.
Have an ability to plan and coordinate own work and others within the area of responsibility and have a drive in own work.
Have an interest in learning new technical areas.
Have knowledge in procurement principles.
Computer skills required :
