MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light. As a national laboratory, MAX IV is operated in agreement with governmental regulations, and in compliance with major funders such as the Swedish Research Council (VR) and the Wallenberg Foundation. 250 people are currently employed at MAX IV Laboratory, and 16 beamlines are funded. The facility is in a ramp-up phase with 3 beamlines now receiving users and 13 more scheduled to be commissioned and built to receive users within the next few years. The facility is dimensioned for 25-28 beamlines.
Tasks
The taks include:
- Producing a mechanical design based on input from machine and beamline engineers and scientists.
• Apply and follow up the general design standards as well as MAX IV standards, in relation of ultra-high vacuum, stability, precision mechanism and general design of scientific equipment.
- Produce preliminary design, conceptual design, layout, detailed assembly drawings, installation drawings and manufacturing drawings.
- Participation in the design review meetings for beamlines and machine projects.
Qalifications
We believe that you have an education within the field of Mechanical design/engineering.
The successful candiate must have the following qualifications:
- 3D cad, drawings - parts -assemblies
- 3D cad SolidWorks, SolidW. Prof. PDM, preferably
- Technical understanding and ability to propose solutions
- Good command of spoken and written English
The following qualifications are considered a merit.
- Knowledge of design for Ultra High Vacuum application
- Knowledge of environment from 4 K to 1500 K
- Experience in finite element analysis is a merit
As person you are used to taking initiatives, are flexible, serviceminded and have the abiltiy to cooperate.
This roll offers a rare environment within science, particle accelerator and X-ray light in a development stage.
This is a two year temporary position.
