At Haptikfabriken we design and produce high-quality 3D haptic devices (a kind of advanced computer joystick), using highly automated fabrication methods (CNC, 3D-printing, etc). We assemble the parts in-house in our lab/office in central Sundbyberg, Stockholm. Our process has the benefit of being able to produce custom devices in short series.
Our goal is a haptic device that is quick to assemble, can be produced in a lean fashion and still be open for application-specific modifications. Rather than being mass-produced with cheap labor, we strive for smart design and expert labor - and step by step reducing labor time.
Role Responsibilities:
Manage production: Order parts and assemble devices hands-on in series of 2-5 units (this can be time consuming but there is no better way to learn how to optimize)
Optimize design for assembly/manufacturability: reduce number of parts, document assembly steps etc
Improve design: together with input from colleagues and third parties when needed make the device better
(New products & research: work on new haptic products from beginning to end)
Collaborate: manage contact with customers for repair/orders, apply for research grants independently or together with academia/partners
Must have
MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent master degree
Experience design and assembly of robotic like devices
Fluent CAD skills
Self-driven, ability to set goals and deliver on time.
Nice to have
PhD degree - will allow more research focus
Industrial design aptitude
Fluency in Swedish
Hands-on experience of machining parts for prototypes
Version control systems
PCB/Electronics Design experience
Embedded System Software Development (C++) knowledge
Experience of some management system like Objectives and Key Results
Setting
Full access to the lab & own desk 24/7.
Full-time or part-time (at least 25%) ok.
Remote ok as work permits.
Market salary, flexible office hours
Majority of work time is unsupervised, but significant on-boarding is planned for.
