Take the opportunity to join the exciting change journey Electromobility is embarking on when creating the future powertrains for our customers as well as the future working place for our employees.

This is us, your new colleagues at Electromobility

Electromobility is one of the main development areas within Volvo Group and was created to be in the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow.

We are responsible for the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and to secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. We develop and drives the electromobility product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well as creating opportunities for all business areas within Volvo Group. Electromobility is a growing agile driven organization in place to shape the future!

The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase.

To ESS Section we are now recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Module Design Group

The module team is responsible for the development of battery modules and to build world class knowledge in battery module design and related technology areas such as materials, light weight design, electrical components, and cooling. The knowledge building includes the associated manufacturing processes of modules.

As a member of the module team, you will be part of an agile and approachable organization with skilled teams consisting of passionate people. We work in an optimistic atmosphere, where joy, knowledge sharing, and openness are key characteristics. Take the technical responsibility and coordinate activities during product development.

You have a broad knowledge and experience of both Electrical and Mechanical development. You need to have a very good understanding of building blocks in a complete battery pack and understand how they impact ESS performance and functionality. feel comfortable of owning and take responsibility of your system and do so with great attitude. We believe that you have:
Master of science in Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Excellent skill in Creo/CATIA to design robust mechanical parts and taking into consideration boundary conditions for cooling/heating and swelling.
Experience in mechanical component design, e.g. welding structures, castings, sheet metals parts and plastic parts.
Design for modularity
Practical knowledge of FEM calculations.
3 years of experience from design & architecture within Energy Storage Systems.
Experience of the battery technologies/systems within the application of electric vehicles.
Knowledgeable about manufacturing of cells and battery modules.
