The section Engine Controls & Calibration are responsible for function development, calibration and validation of engine control in Volvo Car Groups petrol and diesel engines. The section consists of around 100 persons working in the engine dynos, vehicle dynos, in vehicles and with simulations. Many of the section staff also participates in expeditions to get the right atmospheric conditions for their job.
Engine control is now looking for people who want to contribute to improving our cars' environmental impact and driving experience. We work with mechanics, electronics, controls, chemistry, fluid dynamics, modelling, simulation and software. With us, you will have great opportunities in specialization and personal development. Right now, we are in an exciting phase of development, facing the challenge to, in addition to diesel and gasoline engines, also develop electric motors, hybrids and engines that run on more environmentally friendly fuels. Main responsibilities
* Develop our measurement methods on combustion engines, for example for torque, temperature, pressure and gas composition. The main focus will be on cylinder pressure(indicating) measurement
* Test and verify the different measurement methods, both in engine and vehicle tests
* Document measurement methods and educate others how to use them
* Collaborate with other departments regarding measurement methods
* Evaluate suppliers of measurement equipment
Required qualifications
* University degree in engineering (B.Sc., M.Sc. or PhD) or long time engineering experience
* Experience from different measurement techniques and signal processing & analysis
* Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
* Swedish driver's license B and driving experience
* Combustion Engine knowledge is an asset
* Cylinder pressure (indicating) measurement knowledge is an asset
* Experience from working with different sensor techniques is meritorious
