Position Summary
Materials Technology is now looking for an experienced engineer to build up a new technology area within our surface technology team. The technology area will aim towards the engine aftertreatment system (EATS) including surface reactions, catalysts, ceramic materials and filters. You will be working in close collaboration with the colleagues at the Materials Technology laboratory and the development engineers within the EATS unit.
By performing failure analyses of and work close to components you will build good understanding for the EATS system and the needs in a material perspective. You will plan, lead and execute projects and provide recommendations to materials & coating selections, calculation, component design and standards. You will also work within other technology areas in the team, for example worn surfaces, surface treatments, electrical conductive materials and sensors. As well as being a part of maintenance and developing the lab for future needs.
The Materials Technology groups at GTT are serving the Volvo Group and selected external customers in the field of applied materials technology. We offer competence and development resources for product and process development. Materials Technology has a modern laboratory for material analyses, focused on metallic materials, and advanced equipment for mechanical testing. Education Required
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent education.
Qualifications and Background
• Background from industry or university within the field of after treatment systems, catalysts, surface reactions, surface coatings and ceramic materials are a strong advantage
• Experience from laboratory work and failure analysis is an advantage. Especially experience of handling and/or analyse results from different non-destructive testing and X-ray instruments
• Ability to capture customer needs and a strong drive to improve
• Networking and team working skills
• Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
The position is based in Gothenburg, with customers from all Volvo Group sites. Travel may be needed occasionally.
