The Materials Technology groups at GTT are serving the Volvo Group and selected external customers in the field of applied metallic materials technology. We offer competence and development resources for product and process development. Materials Technology has a modern laboratory for metallurgical analyses and advanced equipment for mechanical testing of material properties. Our specialists work globally with both internal and external customers.
We are now looking for an experienced engineer to our team within bolted joint technology. You will be working in one of the best equipped laboratories in Europe within a creative team that has the mission to be the technical experts in bolted joint technology in Volvo Group. The field of work is wide and spans over almost all product applications within Volvo Group.
Task and responsibilities
• You will be responsible for initiating and driving projects to support design, production, quality and purchasing functions.
• Lead testing projects including quotation, planning and execution.
• Perform mechanical testing on bolted joint assemblies, measurements and bolted joint calculations.
• Give recommendations for assembly processes (clamp force, torque, angles etc.).
• Perform failure analyses of failed joints. Provide recommendations for decisions.
• Give recommendation for selection of joining elements.
• Provide input/requirements to materials & coating selections, calculation, component design and standards.
• Deliver Engineering Reports of high quality with analysis, recommendation and within assignment budget.
• Capture our customers? needs within your specialist area.
Education Required
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent education.
Qualification and Background
• Experience from mechanical testing.
• Experience from bolted joint technology, manufacturing engineering and laboratory work is a merit.
• Analytical thinking, a structured way of working and a strong ability to present and communicate results, conclusions and recommendations.
• Networking and team working skills.
• A drive to improve.
• Fluent in English (both spoken and written).
