hela Sverige We are now looking for a Material Science Expert within Product Development for a consultant assignment positioned at AstraZeneca in Mölndal. The assignment starts in November 2015 and will initially proceed until 2016-12-31 with good possibilities of extension.
This is a unique opportunity for an innovative and motivated Material Science expert to join the Product Development team, at our site in Mölndal!
AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZeneca's three core sites for drug research, with about 2.500 employees at site. At Product Development, Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases.
The role
Product Development is looking for an enthusiastic Scientist in Material Science who, will provide input in the area of material characterization and understanding during the formulation development of oral drug products.
The role is primarily laboratory based, where a combination of theoretical and technical expertise in material science is a must together with a good understanding of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing processes.
Skills of importance
• A good understanding of powders, including analysis techniques for determining physical properties, eg particle size and particle size distribution, shape, density and powder rheology.
• Knowledge of imaging techniques, eg SEM and optical microscopy.
• An understanding of excipients used for pharmaceutical development.
• An understanding of solid state properties and associated phase transitions of API and exipients, and how these link to formulation stability and b processability. A knowledge of techniques to characterize this e.g. DSC, GVS, TGA and vibrational spectroscopy etc is an advantage.
The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to contribute to the development of the scientific area via material science networks.
Requirements
We are looking for MSc graduates from pharmaceutics, chemistry or physics or engineers with relevant skills. Experience of laboratory work is a requirement.
