Are you a master student planning to write your Master Thesis during spring 2020? Join us on our journey into the future #Siemens

Be part of an open and dynamic workplace where professional and personal development is high on the agenda. By making sustainable energy solutions more cost effective, developing new technologies for the future's smart industry and electrifying passenger and freight transport, we make reality of our vision of a sustainable world.

We are now looking for a student to take on the assignment:
Master thesis student within heat transfer and/or FEM starting spring 2020.

The assignment:

Gas turbine blades are exposed to extreme temperatures and are dependent on highly effective cooling to achieve an adequate life time. Accurate life assessments are essential to the design of competitive gas turbines, and the quality of the metal temperature calculations sets the limit for the achievable accuracy. Examples of significant sources of uncertainty in the temperature calculations are the manufacturing tolerances during casting and coating of turbine blades.

The object of the master thesis is to study the effect of the most important manufacturing tolerances on the life of cooled gas turbine blades. The work includes cooling analyses as well as life assessments by way of finite element analyses.

The thesis will be performed as a collaboration between two students. You can apply either alone or in pair. If applying in pair you still need to send in two separate applications, with a reference to your preferred partner.

Your Profile:
The project fits you who are...

* Interested in gas turbine heat transfer and/or finite element analysis
* Willing to learn and try out new methodology
* Familiar with / want to learn ABAQUS, NX Nastran heat transfer modeling
