If you're passionate about shaping the future of the industry, we are currently looking for a driven student to join our Projects Assembly team to write their thesis project on a smarter and flexible assembly line.
Background
We see that the future will give us greater challenges to handle more customized engine variants. This is because we are working to bring in more zero emission powertrains in the same area where we currently only build internal combustion engines. This increases the demands on flexibility in our assembly lines.
Suggested scope
An analysis of the modern theoretical models available for flexible assembly flows, their benefits and drawbacks.
Current state analysis. Compare today's assembly to the contemporary theoretical models for future flexible assembly.
Concrete proposal on how our assembly stations can be designed to be flexible and handle increasing and unknown variants while achieving the desired capacity.
Type of technology needed to realize the suggested changes.
Resources required to realize the suggested changes.
Presentation delivered in the form of a 3D model with simulation.
Investigate how new technology and an increased number of variants will affect the assemblers.

Skills & Requirements
We are looking for students currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, automation engineering or similar with an interest in the automotive industry and an ambition to implement new ideas. The candidates for this thesis project should have a strong connection between the theoretical and the practical. Skills in simulation and 3D CAD modelling is desirable.
