Background
To produce Stator and Rotor, certain production steps and machines are needed. Geometrical, magnetical, and electrical tests are performed at several points in the manufacturing chain.
The cost of an e-motor is with about 75% driven by material cost. The top 3 are magnets, electro steel and copper. In case of identifying process problems at an early stage it is possible and sustainable to reuse the material. Sufficient test equipment is of course connected to investment cost and to competence to evaluate the results.
Assignment
The task is to analyse the manufacturing chain, the initial value and the steps of value adding activities, and identify where which quality assuring step should be performed. The goal is to develop an economical concept to quality assure the production steps in order to ensure the final product quality in a sustainable matter.
The work involves diving into quality assuring techniques as well as performing economical calculations based on investment costs, and life cycle analysis of the individual systems in combination with the manufacturing chain.
Students profiles
We are looking for master student(s) with interests in production methods for e-drives and testing equipment components for e-drives. Suitable background is electrical engineering or similar.
You have a good ability to cooperate, high analytic skills, and power of initiative.
We will provide support, supervision, and guidance.
