hela Sverige Electrification of road transport is a key element in delivering the Green Deal, for a carbon neutral Europe and ultimately a carbon neutral world. Using hydrogen as a carrier of green electricity to power electric trucks in long-haul operations is one important part of the puzzle, and a complement to battery electric vehicles and other renewable fuels.
At Volvo's Powertrain Strategic Development, we shape technology strategies and inform business decisions for new powertrain solutions. We probe emerging powertrain tech, legal shifts, and future societal needs to prepare a powertrain roadmap
AI is pivotal in shaping technology strategies. It aids in data-driven decisions, process optimization, and maintaining a competitive advantage. Using AI, organizations can predict technology trends, market shifts, and customer behavior based on historical data.
AI tools sift through vast market data, identifying tech gaps and market opportunities. This helps in informed tech investment decisions.
Furthermore, AI pinpoints potential risks in technology strategies, such as tech disruptions, cybersecurity threats, or regulatory challenges. Organizations can then devise strategies to counteract these risks.
Problem motivating the project
There are several challenges regarding developing technology roadmaps and strategies. To mention a few, a vast amount of data needs to be analysed, identify patterns that might not be apparent to humans, and assess and close gaps effectively.
Generative AI has turned out to be a powerful tool to overcome the challenges mentioned above. Its ability to analyse a vast amount of unstructured / structured data, quickly identify patterns, trends and correlations and assess and mitigate risks effectively, makes it an appropriate framework to support the technology strategy work.
Combining human intelligence with AI capabilities can create powerful synergies and lead to an effective way of developing technology strategies and provide additional insights
Objective and Deliverables
Finetune existing Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate the extraction, synthesis, and analysis of information from multiple sources (text, audio, video, etc.). This will enable informed decision making to assist defining future powertrain strategy roadmap
This functionality of the tool should be packaged through a Graphical User Interface (GUI)
