We are seeking a highly motivated Marine Control Systems Engineer, ready to lead the optimization, evolution and technical adaption of control systems, automation technologies and autonomous solutions for our fleet of RoRo vessels.
As a key player in our Fleet Connectivity & Automation team, part of Marine Operations, you will optimize how the vessel's control systems are being used, through identifying inefficiencies, engaging with suppliers to drive development, setting requirements, ensuring best practice on board, and by implementing new solutions. The right candidate will be given the opportunity to improve the efficiency of the voyages, reduce emissions, and increase safety.

Job Description
Main responsibilities and tasks:

Act as subject matter expert and technical owner on control systems, navigation systems and ship automation
Assess, calculate, analyze and advise on business cases for new technology adoptions
Optimize propulsion control, engine control and power management in the fleet
Conduct R&D on ship autonomy solutions, and assess their feasibility for adoption
Ensure innovation with sustainability, efficiency and safety in mind by exploring and testing new technologies
By choosing the right technology, implementing it within a safe and efficient framework for the entire fleet, defining ways of working all the way from land based functions to the end user on board, you will unleash the full potential of the tool or system
Assist on workstreams in Fleet Connectivity & Automation as required

Qualifications and experience:
Bachelor or Master in Automation, Control systems, Cybernetics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering etc.
2-5 years of experience, preferably from the maritime industry
Experience in project work is required

Innovative mindset and able to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems. A proactive and forward-thinking approach to technology and system design is required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for identifying issues, assessing business cases, and implementing effective solutions. This includes the ability to address challenges related to connectivity, data security and system integration
Success in this role involves collaboration with diverse teams, including other engineers, maritime professionals, and other stakeholders, from all over the world. Effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences is therefore crucial
The right candidate should be adept at project planning, execution and documentation

Location: Gothenburg
Travel: As our business is global some travel should be expected.
