Business Environment
This role is within the IHPS (Ink-Jet High-Speed Production Solutions) business. This business manufactures and supplies high speed digital ink-jet web printing presses to the print industry. As part of the IHPS's Manufacturing Engineering Team you will help bring a new printing platform to market in FY11. IHPS is a young dynamic organization focused on delivering disruptive printing technology to the commercial printing markets. Just Google "Inkjet Web Press" and you'll find a number of informative articles and HP's own website on this New Breakthrough Print System. HP has selected a manufacturing partner in Åmål, Sweden, to manufacture these presses in Europe. This work will focus on building the needed knowledge and documentation and Supplier capabilities to fully integrate and validate a press outside of an HP site.
This individual will be part of a team that to provide and create the technical and organizational capabilities to fully build and test major press sub systems at our supplier's facilities. Working from IHPS defined manufacturing strategy this individual will ensure all required capabilities are documented, deployed, revised and trained with our supply base. This individual will use their growing knowledge of our supplier and product capability to define standard procedures that allow the IHPS web press to be quickly integrated and validated by our suppliers to HP's defined standards. Follow-up work will include the ongoing optimization of the process for Quality, Cost and product Lead-time.
Secondary Responsibility:
Work closely with the IHPS Install teams to ensure the suppliers work product meets the standards needed to enable a fast and effective installation at the customer's site. Gather and feedback relevant install and onsite validation issues (Packaging Issues, Quality Issues, and Performance Issues) that can be addressed by our suppliers.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering plus a minimum of 6 years relevant experience or, Master's degree in Engineering plus 4-6 years relevant experience. The qualification or experience should be highlighted with a solid demonstration of Linux Based Computer skills and the leadership skills needed to work in dynamic and remote environment.
Experience and Knowledge:
• Manufacturing Experience in the acquisition and buy-off of large scale tooling or equipment projects.
• Demonstrated experience in working with external suppliers in an ordered and controlled manor.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver fast-track programs on time and within budget.
• Ability to define documentation standards.
• Solid process skills that enable you to work an environment of continual change.
• Ability to work across organizations and geographies.
• Demonstrated Skill in Linux Compute Systems used to Test and Operate the Equipment.
• Knowledge and experience in Defect Tracking & Change Management processes.
• Balance of strong trouble shooting and project management skills.
• Skilled in use of CAD tools.
• Analytic ability in order to research technical issues and generate creative/innovative solutions.
• Fluency in English.
• Valid International Drivers License.
Travel- 25 %
