hela Sverige Manufacturing Engineering is one of the departments within Volvo Cars Manufacturing Engineering VCME. We develop and implement quality assured, flexible and effective production systems in all Volvo Cars assembly plants. Our task is to ensure a process-driven product development by driving forward and coordinating Manufacturing Engineering activities towards design and product development, with focus on production-effective product solutions.
We are now looking for a Director Trim & Final to Gothenburg, Sweden.
The overall purpose of the role is to:
To lead and develop an organization of 200 people.
Manage organization and resources to meet defined targets on all locations.
Develop people, organization and working method towards Lean.
Define and maintain technical strategies within the area including cross-brand development and integration
Ensure a process-driven product development
Secure standardization and commonality between plants
Define, introduce and maintain production systems and assembly instructions ensuring the timely evolution in line with design and engineering release information and enabling the most efficient and quality assured assembly
Lead program management at DPL 2 level and FPL (Level 3)
Functions within Trim & Final
Core Engineering
Define strategy and manufacturing demands to meet manufacturing strategies and requirements.
Develop system solutions to meet manufacturing targets
VME virtual manufacturing engineering
Geometry and ergonomic Simulation Engineering
Supervise virtual series
Tooling & maintenance engineering
Define tooling strategy to meet manufacturing (process) targets
Define, implement and verify equipment & tools requested from commodity engineering to achieve optimal availability and maintenance cost for new programs as well as replacements
Commodity Engineering groups
Overall responsibility to define and implement production systems, tools, equipment and assembly instructions (PI) in respective commodity
Define, implement and verify all needed specific commodity equipment & tools to achieve optimal availability and maintenance cost for new programs as well as replacements
Competence Requirements
A Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial is preferred), or a technical senior high school degree combined with relevant working experience
Management experience and proven excellent leadership skills
Extensive experience of Manufacturing Engineering
Practical experience of production processes
Familiarity with tools used within Manufacturing- and/or Production Engineering, such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and DFA (Design for Assembly)
Fluency in written and spoken English
Good overall computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Knowledge of Lean production methodologies and principles
Personal skills
Skilled in communication and collaboration

Well organized working methods and ability to report in a structured and concise format
Ability to organize and prioritize own work and to manage multiple tasks
