Exterior Closure & Trim is a group within the section Interior & Exterior Manufacturing Engineering. The section develops and implements quality assured flexible and effective production systems in the Final Assembly plants. Our task is to ensure a process-driven product development by driving forward and coordinating Manufacturing Engineering activities in design and product development, with focus on production-effective product solutions.

As Manufacturing Engineer you are responsible to lead the cross technical product and production manufacturing work. You will represent Manufacturing during prepare and implement phase and are to ensure product and process feedback to R&D in order to fulfil the manufacturing attributes: quality, man hours, cost efficiency, environment, flexibility, and change over. Exterior Closure & Trim are responsible for manufacturing in Gothenburg, Gent and Chengdu which is why work will require travels.

Main responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate manufacturing process activities toward Research and Development (R&D)
• Describe and visualise assembly and control methods and issues process and inspection instructions
• Develop efficient (man hour & layout) and ergonomic assembly methods
• Drive virtual and physical verification in order to secure manufacturing requirements
• Secure development and timing of needed assembly equipment
• Introduce changes and update instructions for running production
• Identify needs of new error proofing and quality assurance systems or update existing
• Assure flawless introduction of car programs into our plants
• Initiate and perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
• Continuously strive for commonality within Volvo Cars plants in Europe and China

Required qualifications

• Senior high school or higher level technical education
• Practical experience of production processes
• Fluent in Swedish and English, spoken and written
• Experience from FMEA is meritorious
• Knowledge about automotive related manufacturing and R&D processes, methods and tools is meritorious
