Job Scope
Why does the role exist? High level purpose of function.

The Manufacturing Associate performs all functions associated with manufacturing operations. This includes operating process machines and auxiliary equipment, troubleshooting, and maintaining the machine. The manufacturing associate is also expected to collaborate with colleagues and engineers on tasks including (but not restricted to): set-up, calibration, rework, material handling, sampling and experiments. This role requires technical understanding of the manufacturing process and uses custom programs to support the collection of operating data to make real-time adjustments to processes, instruments or equipment. The manufacturing associate will assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process and improve shop floor management.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

Assure safe conditions through defined procedures (including Lock out tag out – LOTO) during equipment repairs, cleaning, or inspections.

Work under the defined shift model to ensure customer demand is met in the assigned production time. Working full-time on the shop floor, supporting operation.

Operate the process machines and material handling equipment used in production, following implemented work instructions, standard operating procedures, and guidelines.

Perform troubleshooting, autonomous maintenance, cleaning activities and pre-start up inspections/safety checks on production and material handling equipment and fixtures.

Support the review and optimization of work instructions and process documentation.

Train and validate the competence of new manufacturing associates.

Assist with the distribution and handling/re-stocking of PPE and shop floor consumables.

Handle production waste.

Report current condition, status and also deviations in machine function, area cleanliness or personnel behavior to shift leader.

Contribute to maintaining high 5S standards within the process areas and general factory areas.

Follow all currently implemented work instructions and standard operating procedures for cleaning, material handling, waste handling, and PPE use.

Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the machine, product, and process.

Work proactively with the support functions (Manufacturing technicians, quality, logistics, etc).

Complete supplementary tasks as seen fit by management to effectively utilize time and resources for the benefit of the business.

Requirements
Educational background and previous experience required for the role

Qualifications and Experience

High school education or a relevant education (e.g., industrial program at a gymnasium level, automation operator/technician education, process operator/technician education) is a plus.

1 year previous experience from the manufacturing or processing industry (e.g., battery, pulp and paper, food, chemicals, microelectronics, oil & gas, pharmaceutical processing).

Experience with some of the following is advantageous: permit procedures, Lock Out Tag Out, near-miss reporting, safety audits, maintenance audits, process control systems, and daily follow-up on safety actions.

Understanding how to utilize equipment to run efficient manufacturing with energy and costing optimization.
Experience with production processes including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic components.

Specific skills & Knowledge

Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or other sample tracking software is a plus.

Excellent English skills, both written and oral, are essential. Basic Swedish and other language skills are a plus. You should have good communication skills and be able to work in close collaboration with colleagues from many different teams.

High work ethic, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills are a must.

This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual labor in physically demanding environments. This can include 100% working hours allocation into clean-rooms and dry-rooms, while wearing appropriate PPE. The role also requires working shifts and working in multiple process areas, according to business needs. This role requires working full-time on the shop floor, supporting operation.

A genuine technical interest and curiosity about working within production is highly valued. A good understanding of machines and equipment such as pipes, pumps, and valves is a plus.
