Managing Editor of the Employee Magazine Agenda

The group Internal Communications is organised under the department Stakeholder Communications within Volvo Cars Corporate Communications. The internal communications team is responsible for managing the corporate communications internally to all employees. Our mission is making sure that our employees are informed about the business performance and the transformation activities that are ongoing within the organisation. Internal Communications uses a mix of different channels.
One is Agenda Magazine which is Volvo Cars' global employee magazine, and distributed 4-5 times a year to all employees within Volvo Car Group. It plays a key role of presenting and celebrating role models of the company and the culture - globally. It is available in Swedish, English, Dutch and Chinese.

The Managing Editor (ME) is responsible for managing the overall editorial planning and as well as the execution of the editorial plans. The ME needs to possess good leadership skills in working with an editorial team (agency, freelance writers, photographers, print and distribution partners). It is crucial that the ME possesses professional expertise in writing. The ME is also responsible for managing the budget of the magazine. We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic, flexible and proactive team player, who enjoys working in a fast moving business and is keen on building a rich network within the company. The ME also needs to be well-structured and organised with great attention to details and ability to multi-task.

Required qualifications for this position

• Degree within journalism and/or communications
• Senior and at least 10-12 year working experience in an international environment
• Previous experience of editorial work and developments within an employee magazine
• Extract business messages into clear and engaging communication messages
• Fluent in both Swedish and English required, additional languages is meriting
• Excellent storytelling ability with high understanding of how to explain the 'big picture'
• Outstanding writing and communication skills with extensive experience from working with communications and relations on senior and executive levels in a corporate setting
• Excellent in MS Office (Powerpoint, Word and Excel), skills in InDesign/Photoshop is an advantage
