Manager Transport Optimisation and Implementation

The role Manager Transport Optimisation and Implementation is located within the Operational transport function within the Inbound Logistics organisation (IBL) and will report directly to the Head of Inbound Logistics. This function is critical to meet Volvo Cars' budget targets for IBL costs. The purpose of the Transport Optimisation and Implementation organisation is to identify development of cost, service, lead-time on a tactical (short -mid term) level. The function shall improve the current inbound transportation network as well as integrate new material part suppliers and carriers to create a related reliable logistics network. The demands and the pace will be high at the same time offering a unique opportunity to make a professional imprint and great future possibilities for the ambitious and skilled. The role is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Main responsibilities
• Lead and set up the function; hire and make function operational
• Manage a cross plant team of international logistics engineers
• Ensure through constant improvements that IBL can meet the department targets (budget, lead-time, frequency, quality and benchmark costs).
• Manage the interface between central functions, local plants and contracted logistic parties.
• Align all activities with internal stake holders.
• Network design and optimisation
• Tactical planning and implementation on a monthly basis
• Identification and implementation of new transportation concepts (LTL-tours, milk runs, hub-systems etc.)
• Implement and apply change management standards and culture
• Continuous monitoring, analysis and optimisation of the utilisation, quality and cost of the inbound transportation network

Required qualifications
• University degree and a minimum of 7 years work experience and proven results in network optimisation
• Good understanding of complete material flows and value streams
• Proven results of managing an international team
• Fluent in English

• Excellent communication skills
• Strong analytical ability
• Solid project management skills
