Manager Transport Planning & Performance

The Outbound Logistics function, a new function within Manufacturing, is to ensure a global strategic approach on outbound logistics by integrating strategy, network design, procurement, performance management and operational development to ensure that factory complete cars are delivered to dealers on time at minimum cost and according to specifications in line with market requirements and Volvo Car Corporation (VCC) strategy.

As MANAGER TRANSPORT PLANNING & PERFORMANCE your role is to manage and coordinate the planning of all transportation of manufactured cars to the final destination. Handle any specific modal (road, rail, and ocean) requirements, as well as, the day to day transportation operations. In your role you communicate regularly and follow-up carriers that the specific requirements are being met and that the markets and plants are satisfied with the carrier's performance levels. You will also manage your staff assigned to handle these tasks and guide and steer them and the sourced services and resources off- and on-site to achieve set targets. This function has a direct impact on the financial result (revenue recognition and cash flow) and the achievement of retail and wholesales sales targets as the timely delivery of vehicles is a very crucial element. You will report directly to the Sr. Manager Outbound logistics Planning & Operations. Your logistics competence should be strong so that you can make your own decisions and calculated conclusions. Your mindset should be visionary and with an aim of finding solutions.

Job profile:

• Initiate, plan, prioritize and coordinate activities performed within the Transport Planning & Performance function related to outbound logistics requirements defined by VCC markets and plants
• Manage and drive actions to close gaps relating to carrier performance as agreed with VCC markets and plants
• Establish the KPI targets and propose measures to monitor delivery precision and secure that outbound logistics properly supports markets in on-time delivery of finished vehicle products
• Secure that clear specifications are established and maintained with each carrier appointed by VCC for the handling and delivery of finished vehicle products
• Coordinate and lead carrier involvement in periodic stock-taking activities and monitor continuously stock levels and costs at carrier managed storage areas
• Secure that transportation capacity commitments are fulfilled and that distribution priorities and transport booking routines are well defined and followed-up with the carrier
• Be process owner for the governance structure to drive and follow-up carrier performance and secure continuous improvement to outbound logistics are implemented and Volvo Cars standards are followed
• Support distribution of finished vehicle products of strategic importance to Volvo Cars which are required outside the normal distribution flow (e.g. TDS/HS vehicles, secrecy, show cars)

Your profile:

• Minimum of 10 years experience in logistics operations and planning functions.
• Experience working in a global context with regional and local transport providers
• Experience in managing & leading teams
• God understanding of supplier agreements
• Strong capability to manage multiple stakeholders
• Very good analytical ability and strong in planning and execution
• Meritorious is automotive experience managing transports of finished vehicle products
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Bachelor of Business Administration or equivalent experience
