Albany Engineered Composites is a rapidly growing supplier of highly engineered composite parts for the aerospace industry.
The primary business of Albany International AB Halmstad (Sweden) is supplying the expanding global paper industry with consumable, technologically sophisticated products called paper machine clothing. Paper machine clothing is used to produce all grades of paper from lightweight sanitary tissue to heavyweight container board. These custom-designed engineered fabrics, essential to the paper making process, are manufactured from monofilament and synthetic fiber materials. This basic technology is also utilized for other industrial process applications.
Albany International AB, is now looking for a Manager for the Process Improvement Management (PIM) in the Press area.
In the press section of a paper machine, water is mechanically removed from the newly formed sheet. In the simplest press, the sheet is carried by a press fabric between two rolls, where water is removed with the application of load and pressure. This can also be assisted by the use of vacuum and heat. Press fabrics can last normally from 1 to 6 months. Albany International's innovative products such as seamed, Non-Woven and coated materials provide consistent, class leading performance for our customers.
Position description for PIM Manager
The position is based in Albany's facilities in Halmstad (Sweden) and reports to the Plant Manager. The Process improvement Management department is responsible for process improvements according to lean, to set goals and procedures within the press area. The team is also responsible that manufactured products reaches set goals as quality and assures that productivity is reaching key targets according to budget and both internal expectations and external regulations. The team has the authority to stop production if the quality levels are not reached.
Key tasks
• Lead and plan the activities to quality assure the production process according to company policies, quality system and goals.
• Lead and plan the Lean continuous improvement work for the team in the area of production and quality.
• Lead, analyze, plan and follow-up tasks to identify the root cause to non-value adding activities.
• Lead and plan the implementation of process-change and process improvement assuring the documentation and good traceability.
• Lead and plan the work with transfers to and from Halmstad to and from other sites in the global PMC organization.
• Lead and guarantee that the measurement instruments are calibrated and that the documentation and traceability is assured.
• Responsible for a good overview of corporate projects regarding technology, research and development and their impact on the production.
Responsibility
• Responsible for tasks within the department follow internal directives regarding production targets, Lean, budget, quality as well as external mandatory rules that work etc.
• Responsible to assure that the manufactured products reaches up to the agreed standards and if not so have the authority to stop products not reaching set standards.
• In dialog with department managers see to that process improvements will be implemented and documented in good traceability.
• Responsible to develop the team in the process-department as a whole and assure the recruitment, development of new employees.
• Responsible for employee follow up, performance- and salary reviews.
• Economical responsibility according to corporate policy's.
Requirements
• MSc in engineering or equal is required. You should also have experience in Quality- and Production work from a leading position and in an industrial environment. You should have experience in managing people and knowledge in economics. The position requires that you have good knowledge and experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma Black belt education. You should be fluent in English both written and verbally.
Personal Profile
To be successful in the position you should have a natural ability to manage people and develop your organization. You should also have strong analytical and problem solving skills. Further you should have an ability engage people and communicate in a positive manner with all parts of the company. You should also be able to structure and organize efficiency projects according to the Lean principals and communicate in a pedagogic manner. The position requires that you have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ability to produce/ work under tight time constrains.
