The Product Manager is responsible for the worldwide competitiveness of the Navtech Aircraft Performance product as well as ensuring that current customers are satisfied through the management of development priorities. The Product Manager will report to the Product Director, Aircraft Performance.
Summary of responsibilities:
Develop plans and statements to position product within the product line and the competitive marketplace. Specifically:
• Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of all product components
• Develop and update positioning statements for assigned products
• Oversee ongoing competitor tracking efforts for assigned products
• Monitor competitive environment to determine key activities and trends, recommend actions needed to maintain and improve market position.
Support the creation of a product plan for the product line indicating overall product direction and one-year and three-year priorities.
Act as the central point within Navtech across the functional groups and along with the customer base to ensure successful implementation of product plan.
Responsible for representing the product to customers and at events such as conferences, seminars, user groups, etc.
Make recommendations for relative resource allocations for strategic, defect, tactical and system installation, and work to make short-term adjustments to meet committed delivery schedules.
Manage priorities for analysis, defects, and enhancements for all development activities. Report changes to delivery priorities, ensure that on a daily basis, operational defects are reviewed and prioritized appropriately.
For all strategic projects, interface with current and potential customers, Sales, Account Management, Development and Operations in order to define a feature set that will evolve with our customers functional, technical and workflow needs. Document the features in the form of highly detailed requirements and use cases. Manage the Requirements Document through to sign-off by the required individuals and departments. Review and jointly (with the Project Manager) approve all changes in scope.
Academic/Educational Requirements:
Post secondary diploma/degree; aeronautical education a plus
Required Skills/Experience:
Minimum eight years of relevant experience; in-depth knowledge of Navtech products and services a plus.
Experience in the aviation industry is required; flight operations/Performance engineering preferred.
High level of communication skills essential when interacting with customers and other Navtech employees. The individual must maintain a professional and personal conduct at all times.
Strong interpersonal skills to resolve critical and contentious issues.
Strong team building skills
High level of organizational skills
Ability to integrate requirements of various airlines.
Previous experience in product management desired
Self management skills
Understanding of the software development process
Experience in writing business and technical documentation
Experience with enterprise solutions in large customer bases
Willingness to travel on average up to eight days per month
