Electronic Defence Systems, a business area of Saab, is one of the world's premier suppliers of solutions for surveillance, avionics and systems to detect, locate and protect against threat.
At the Division Avionics, Utility and Mission System, in Jönköping Sweden, we develop, produce and qualify, safety and mission critical electronics, software and mechanics. We operate both on equipment and system level, to military and commercial aircraft manufacturers on the international market.
The mechanics design group comprises 8 engineers, including the manager. The current manager is taking on other responsibilities within our company.
The mechanics design group is responsible for all mechanics design work needed for our electronics assemblies, but does also develop mechanical sub-systems and equipment, such as the Gripen hydraulic flight control actuators, or electro-mechanical actuation solutions.
Your future challenge
You will lead the group in developing our mechanical parts and systems. You are yourself expected to participate in the design work, planning and development of methods. As a manager it is very important that you take the principles of Lean Production and Development as your own and contribute to our development towards becoming a Lean Enterprise. You and the group will be integrated in our development projects as one of several disciplines, but you will also at times place certain engineers in a project for a longer period of time.
You will write and manage the performance of an Operational Management Plan, covering improvements, facilities, etc, for the group every year together with the Head of Engineering and you will be responsible for the budget and the deliveries of the department.
You will be expected to travel in Sweden and internationally occasionally.
Todays demands
We are looking for people with a strong background in Mechanical Engineering and with a Masters of Science degree (Sw. civilingenjör). It is a benefit if you have experience from the aeronautical or vehicle industry. You must have good communication skills, as you are expected to co-ordinate the work of others. You must have a personal drive to achieve agreed goals and the capability to plan your work yourself. You will also be expected to represent Saab in meetings and co-operations with our customers. You must be fluent in Swedish and English, both in writing and in speech.
