Our department
The department Materials Design and Modeling is a part of the main department R&D Materials and Processes, which is accountable for technology and product development of the grades (the cutting tool material).
The Materials Design and Modeling department is responsible for developing new substrate solutions, from early development up to substrate solutions for new grades and is the driver for Modeling and Simulation within the main department R&D Materials and Processes. The department is working in collaboration with R&D Materials & Processes, supply, and other divisions within the business area Sandvik Machining Solutions. Technology development is also accomplished by joint projects with universities in order to acquire knowledge regarding materials and processes.

About the job
In this position, you're responsible for short and long-term competence development of technology and solutions of new substrate solutions and the development of modeling and simulation knowledge and solutions. You create and promote an environment that develops both employees and the department's competency platforms. Furthermore, you identify and build networks with internal and external stakeholders. Together with your team, you're accountable for the department in areas such as:
Daily operation work
Setting and reaching objectives
Financial monitoring
Investments
Quality-assurance
Environment, Health and Safety (EHS)

The location of this job is Västberga, Stockholm, and it requires a physical presence in our office at least three days a week.

About you
We value your personality and leadership capabilities immensely! You will be leading people from different technology areas - as cemented carbide, sintering, superhard materials, modeling and simulation, and working with digital tools and in a laboratory environment. We're therefore looking for someone who's capable of bringing people together and has more than enough experience in stakeholder management. You're constructive and a curious individual who's able to communicate in a way that makes things simple to understand.
We're looking for someone with a master's in science or equivalent line of education, as well as a relevant EHS education in compliance with delegation letters and EHS assignments. You have previous leadership experience to show for and also laboratory activities, preferably in R&D or production. As we act in an international environment, you're proficient in English, in both written and verbal form.
