Manager (International Processes), Swedish Water House

Swedish Water House is currently looking for a Manager (International Processes) to join the team.

Form of employment: 1 December 2018 - 31 December 2020
Full time/ part time: Full time, 100% (39,5 hours/week)
Language: Fluent in English and Swedish

The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) is a policy institute that generates knowledge and informs decision-making towards a water wise world. SIWI conducts research, builds institutional capacity and provides advisory services in developing countries in areas related to water governance and transboundary water in response to water-related pressures of climate change, energy provision, food production and urbanisation. SIWI organises the World Water Week - the leading annual global meeting place on water and development issues - and hosts the Stockholm Water Prize and the Stockholm Junior Water Prize.

Swedish Water House is a department within SIWI that act as a neutral platform for Swedish actors interested in international water issues, creating spaces for dialogue, cooperation and knowledge sharing. The overall objective of Swedish Water House is to contribute to cooperation over water and development issues. An important element of Swedish Water House activity consists of seminars and workshops. The events involve a wide range of actors and disseminate knowledge about the often scarcely visible role of water in various areas

Areas of responsibility
1) International Policy - Climate and SDGs
2) World Water Week plenaries
3) AGWA
4) Engagement with relevant agencies and government offices in Sweden and elsewhere

Tasks
Under the leadership of Senior Manager International Policy coordinate SIWl's engagement in the UNFCCC and SDG related processes through active engagement in developing SIWI positions and documenting deliberations:

• Regular reporting on progress, changes and challenges,
• Draft positions and suggest SIWI involvement in strategic processes and events
• Coordinate side events, workshops and meetings and ensure follow up communication and coverage of the events
• Be responsible for budget analysis and administration
• Develop SIWl's engagement in initiatives within the process' and suggest/ potentially initiate strategic projects
• Take the lead in preparing side events, in substance and practice
• Draft SIWI papers/positions in collaboration with designated persons in other departments at SIWI and/or with external actors
• Identify strategic synergies and collaborations together with Swedish Water House
• Coordinate dialogue with civil servants at relevant Swedish ministries and Sida
• Attend and report on relevant meetings and conferences
• Draft SIWI input papers as they are requested from ministries and agencies
• Develop engagement and dialogue strategies for selected countries and institutions
• Administer AGWA secretariat and support Co-chair in AGWA steering committee
• Together with steering committee colleagues prepare side events, draft papers with collaborating partners, coordinate meetings, workshops etc.
• Report back to Senior Manager IP and Executive Secretary to ensure coherence and relevance
• Support Senior Manager with all aspects of preparation as needed regarding World Water Week plenaries
• Follow up and conclude dialogue with participants in World Water Week.

Experience and required skills
• Masters degree.
• Well established network in environmental and/or water policy.
• Experience working in a team, contributing to advanced as well as less qualified tasks.
• 10 years of experience working with international multilateral policy in water, environment and/or climate. Experience from working with water policy in an international setting is desired, but not required.
• 10 years of policy development experience in national and international settings.
• Documented writing and note taking skills
• Fluency in both Swedish and English.

You report to the Senior Manager, International Processes and the Director of Swedish Water House.
