Your role and responsibilities
Are you ready to lead a dynamic team in the cutting-edge world of Marine and Ports technology at ABB Process Automation? As the Manager for Software Lead Engineering, you'll head a talented team of Software Lead Engineers, coaching and developing them as they drive innovation and deliver world-class, high-quality solutions to our customers worldwide.
In this role you will be part of the Ports business line within the Marine and Ports division that is specialized in advanced automation and information systems for all types of container and bulk cargo handling cranes, as well as OCR and electrical systems for container terminals.
Here you will get the opportunity to oversee engineering projects from start to finish, from early sales support to successful customer handover and after-sales service. Your leadership will ensure that we meet our commitments on time, within budget, and in compliance with contract, safety, and quality standards.
This role is based in Västerås and reports to the Global Engineering Manager.
Examples of responsibilities include:
Collaborate closely with customers and project management to craft innovative technical solutions, leveraging feedback to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
As part of the Engineering management team, you'll be responsible for system delivery, including application design and technical support for cutting-edge crane and terminal automation systems.
Ensure your team of Software Lead Engineers is well-resourced and empowered to succeed, including planning and allocating resources effectively.
Oversee risk and opportunity assessments, driving action plans to enhance project outcomes.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing processes, policies, and procedures for greater efficiency.
Assist in budget allocation for the Design and Engineering department, driving business performance and growth.

Qualifications for the role
3-5 years of experience in software development, with a track record as a manager or project manager within industrial automation or a related field.
A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools, with a focus on system-oriented development.
A commitment to workplace safety and a proactive approach to safe work practices.
High self-motivation and curiosity, with a passion for learning about emerging technologies.
Proven leadership skills, with a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset and excellent communication abilities in both writing and speaking.
Given the international nature of our work, fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Swedish or other additional language skills would be a strong advantage.
