Your role
Saab is in a rapid growth phase and long-term investment in our portfolio has never been more important. As manager for the newly created portfolio operations section, your task will be to create the capability to efficiently execute research and development projects. Your focus will be to build a team of capable project/assignment managers and technical leaders to take on the various development efforts we have in the pipeline. You will act as project owner for the initiatives and most likely manage some as well. You section will work with all the products in our portfolio.
Together with the team you build, you will:
* Plan and lead R&D, product maintenance and externally funded development projects
* Work in close collaboration with product management and technical product management to realize the product roadmaps
Daily work will be varied; developing people, the product and ways-of-working. You will interact with counterparts within the business unit and Saab at large. We are a global operation with a global customer base, which also will give you the opportunity to travel in your role.
You will be a part of the Product Portfolio management team with the following main responsibilities:
* Act as a contract/project owner in existing contracts
* Secure competence needed to lead development initiatives
* Over time, monitor, analyze and act upon the short and long-term need of competence within your section
* Help and coach your personnel to execute projects, ensuring that we deliver the projects in time, to the right cost and quality
* Responsible for financial result and follow-up of the section

Your leadership and cooperation skills are what matters most and you cherish the opportunity to be able to build your team. You are motivated by technical challenges and are not afraid to actively involve yourself in solving them. You also have good business acumen.
Required skills:
* You have experience in project execution and have a good understanding of the entire project life cycle
* You have previously acted as a project owner and have experience from steering groups and how to follow up both small and large projects
* Interest in making things better
* An academic degree within a technical field
* Good communication skills in Swedish and English, verbal and written
Desired skills:
* Knowledge of combat systems
* Ability to understand and guide both HW, SW and system engineering
* Well-developed commercial acumen
* Experience of leading leaders
Your personality and previous experience will play an important role in building and leading this section. Building relationships and gaining the trust of your stakeholders will be keys to succeed. The complexity requires many competences to deliver the wanted capability and this is a part of the challenge. Your interest to understand the business and wish to develop our ways-of-working will be of great importance. The focus will be to deliver on time with a transparent communication throughout the whole organization. Knowledge specifically of our 9LV Combat System product is a bonus.
This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
