The Expert Group within Exploration work as in-house consultants and support the whole Exploration team with specialist competence in their task of finding the next ore deposit. The Expert Group also coordinates all R&D activities within the field of geoscience that Boliden is involved in, both in-house and external projects. In-house technical geoscience short courses and training programmes, use of external consultants, and the exploration department?s involvement in geoscience conferences are co-ordinated by the Expert Group. The historic archive of geoscientific material also lies within the responsibility of the Expert Group. The current manager is now taking on a new role within the department and we are seeking a new manager for the Expert Group.
Tasks
As a manager you lead the Expert Group's work and are part of the management team for Boliden Exploration, reporting to the exploration director. Boliden works actively with EHSQ (Environment, Health, Safety and Quality) and as a manager you are expected to act proactively with these issues and strive for the department to follow the rules and guidelines set up by the company.
As the leader for Expert Group Exploration, you will be responsible for the co-ordination, completion, evaluation and reporting of all projects and programs for the Expert Group. Your responsibility also includes personnel and budget. You have a strong drive for working with innovation and development of methods and techniques.
You should also ensure that ongoing projects comply with the laws and regulations applicable to mining and exploration companies as well as to ensure that company values are upheld.
In various contexts, you will be part of groups that evaluate special projects for the company's development. We strive for mobility within the company and this position includes travel to, and work periods in, various countries. However, the position is based in Boliden, Sweden.
Suitable background

We are looking for a university geoscience graduate with at least 10 years? experience in mineral exploration. It is an advantage to have worked internationally and experience from management positions or other supervisory roles is desirable. It is also beneficial to have experience from academic and/or consultancy work and have experience in developing and assessing R&D proposals and projects.
The corporate language is English so therefore this position requires good skills in English, both spoken and in writing. Knowledge of other languages and willingness to travel are considered an asset. The chosen candidate is expected to have good communication skills, be result-oriented, flexible and be able to work independently. A driving license, category B (for car), or the equivalent, is mandatory.
