Metso is planning to recruit an Engineering Department Manager for our Major Projects organization located in Sala, Sweden.
As a Manager for the Engineering Department your main responsibilities are to plan and manage the work within the plant design departments in Sala, Sweden, and Gurgaon, India, as well as to have a close relation with other engineering departments around the world for common resource planning. You also work in close cooperation with external consulting and engineering companies.
The Manager for the Engineering Department is, besides managing the personnel of the department, responsible for:
• Ensuring that the engineering work performed in customer projects is according to the engineering requirement in contracts.
• Developing working methods and tools to increase cost efficiency in the department.
• Ensuring that resources are available for projects and proposals.
• Ensuring that the engineering work follows applicable codes and standards.
We expect the successful candidate to have suitable education, like a Master degree in Engineering or equally acquired competence. Preferably you also have experience of plant projects within the mining business from concentrator plants for copper-, iron-, lead/zink-, gold-, diamond- and/or other ores.
You have excellent leadership skills and 2-5 years of experience in management of personnel and your personal characteristics include strong communication and teamwork capabilities.
You have worked in a multi-cultural working environment, have good knowledge of the English technical language, with fluency in both reading/writing and speech.
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and effective interpersonal skills are required, as you will have frequent interaction with both internal and external customers and suppliers.
You must be able to effectively discuss, explain and coordinate plant designs with other disciplines cross-functionally.
