Our Center of Excellence (CoE) for Advanced Analytics & AI is focused on unleashing the value of data collected from connected customer assets. The team provides actionable insights for predicting and optimizing Volvo Group operations and generating new value for our customers and society at large by applying the latest advanced analytics techniques. We work with data from various sources, with an emphasis on position data from connected vehicles.
We are now looking for the right person to lead the CoE; an ambitious team of highly competent Data Scientists with broad skillsets in the data science domain. As leader of the team, you will be the natural interface towards the rest of the Volvo Group and be responsible for the team's strategy, but you will also lead projects, frame problems and ideate together with stakeholders, as well as do hands-on data science explorations. You will proactively drive progress by promoting continuous improvements in our skills and workflows, from realizing the full potential of our cloud computing platforms to maximizing the impact of our work by pioneering efficient communication of results. You will be part of the management team for Data, Analytics & AI and will actively work to accelerate the data-culture transformation within Volvo Group Connected Solutions. Through execution of innovative and value-creating Advanced Analytics & AI flagship projects you will be uniquely positioned to set the standards for AI capabilities across the Volvo Group.
The role
Lead and manage a team of about 12 high-performing explorative Data Scientists
Maximize the value of team output through project portfolio management and a long-term focus on high-quality deliveries
Connect the team with relevant business and technical stakeholders within the Volvo Group and actively communicate the team's capabilities and deliveries in suitable fora (both external and internal to Volvo)
Be responsible for competence development and ensure that the CoE stays at the forefront in the area of explorative analytics
Stay updated on the developments in the field and bring relevant techniques and concepts to the team's attention
Work proactively to improve the team's operational infrastructure and tools (such as data access & computational platforms)
Nurture the team members' passion for value-focused explorative analysis
Facilitate collaboration between the CoE and other teams in the data analytics area across the Volvo Group, as well as with related competencies such as Data Engineers to set up efficient pipelines from data acquisition to final product
Work to fully leverage the potential of advanced analytics and AI in data-driven service development together with your colleagues in the management team for Data, Analytics & AI
Lead and participate in concrete team deliveries (about 20% of your time)
Who are you?
You have extensive experience as a Senior Data Scientist in an industrial setting, including both hands-on work and management of advanced analytics projects. You have previous, demonstrated leadership experience of both projects/deliveries and teams in cross-collaborative settings. We believe that you are a communicative person who values building strong relationships and trust with colleagues and stakeholders.
When approached with a proposed analysis task, you can evaluate both the technical feasibility and potential value to a user or stakeholder. You have a high degree of business understanding and an aptitude for identifying opportunities and risks that you readily incorporate in strategic decision-making. You can balance attention to detail with a focus on value to help others efficiently achieve impactful results of high quality and can quickly grasp the essence of a body of work and assess its technical quality and validity.
