At ESAB we are looking for a Team Manager to our Research team of R&D Filler Metals. You
will lead a team that conducts research and develops methods and tools to acquire fundamental knowledge for a sustainable development for ESAB globally. The position is placed in the Filler metals R&D organization consisting of 50 employees, which is the largest filler metal R&D site for ESAB. In this role, you are responsible to initiate and drive the filler metal research team road map and through that contribute to the development of deep understanding and long-term knowhow within the area of applied welding. The team
includes three researchers with competence in areas such as welding metallurgy, physics, welding processes and material mechanics and it is your responsibility to make sure that the team works towards delivering upon set goals. You will work tightly with all other ESAB R&D departments and liaise with industry and academic collaborative groups to make sure that current and future products will continue to be market leading for the foreseeable future.
The position is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Occasional travel may be required. We offer you a creative work environment with good possibilities to development in your profession. Responsibilities
High focus on leading, developing and inspiring a successful team that conduct research on future needs, product solutions and innovative technology
Initiate and drive the research team road map in line with the filler metal R&D-
organization
Ensure that all research work conducted leads to a new or an improved product or solution for ESAB's customers
Initiate and drive research projects as well as follow technical areas of interest for our current and future portfolio and capabilities
Develop, implement, and secure follow through on the measures and activities needed to develop a culture of a high performing R&D organization. Drive team and organizational development
Participate in trade fairs, external customer meetings and university collaborations
Ensure that results accomplished by R&D projects, support etc. are documented and
shared
Ensure projects are completed on time and are on budget
The position is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications
We believe that you have a Ph.D. or M.Sc. (Ph.D. preferred) in Metallurgy or Materials Science with a focus on metallic materials
A couple of years' experience from development or research work in the welding or similar industry as well as experience with R&D and R&D management
Know-how about processes for research, development, and technology
Ability to quickly gain state-of-the-art research and product knowledge
Experience in project management and ability to interact with customers
We see that you are used to delivering results, by your excellent communication skills and a strategic plan
You are proficient in both written and verbal communication in English. Proficiency in Swedish will be an added value
You have a practical touch, accuracy, and analytical thinking, are comfortable communicating within the research team as well as across the organization's key stakeholders. Proven leadership capabilities and strong collaboration skills are of course also
important qualities.
