Manager - Powertrain Projects within Purchasing

Scania's Purchasing is responsible for the purchase of products and services to all of Scania units worldwide.

The current Manager will leave for a new position, and we are looking for his successor.

You will be the Manager for the group Project Powertrain Components within the department Powertrain. The group is responsible to drive and coordinate purchase activities in pre-development and development projects for supplier developed components (e.g. turbo, injection system, valves, coolers, hybrid). We are now entering a challenging but exiting period where we will kick off a few major big projects including gearboxes and engines.

Main tasks
As a Manager you will be responsible to lead a team of 10 Project purchasers with the main task to secure that Purchasing meets the expected targets and time plan for the product development projects in the Powertrain area. You are also responsible for the development of your co-workers.

The team supports the organization to give the best possible quality regarding estimations of Investments in supplier tools as well as Material cost into the projects as well as monitor and follow up on deviations and changes in Investments and Material cost. The team keep track of the project time lines and other purchasing deliverables, such as sourcing strategies, sourcing plan and prototypes. In addition also prepare for decisions throughout the projects.

The role of the team is also to identify, handle and escalate deviations within purchasing and the projects to the right level. You will be part of the forums PGC (Project Group Managers) and PPC (Purchasing Project Council) on a weekly basis to discuss and decide upon deviations and tasks. You will have a close cooperation with Scania project office as well as R&D Powertrain.

Besides this You are part of the project Powertrain management team, and contribute to further develop Powertrain purchasing.

You are also responsible for the development of your operations by supporting your team to develop working methods and processes within Purchasing. As major product development projects within Scania often require new or changed processes we are heavily involved in or driving this development in close cooperation with the purchasing process team.

Your profile
You are probably proactive, structured, organized, flexible, take own initiatives, are able to handle multiple open cases and have a strong interest in project management and have leadership skills.

Your work includes a lot of interactions at different levels, both internally and cross-functionally, it is important that you have the ability to collaborate and build trust and are clear in your communication with others. You should have high integrity and good judgment and work according the Scania leadership principles. You probably understand Swedish and speak and write fluent in English.
