The team is part of Logistic Industrialisation, and is responsible for the development of packaging solutions in line with Volvo Cars vehicle cycle plan and global standards. Packaging Engineering plays a large role in the logistic implementation of new car programs. As we are striving to shorten our lead-time and reduce cost, we are moving into more virtual engineering and verification in early phases of car projects.
We are now looking for a new Manager of Packaging Engineering, who has a drive for lean and flow oriented solutions resulting in reduced Co2 emission & cost. The team consist of 15 highly skilled packaging engineers with location in Gothenburg.
Transparency, standardization and common development are fundamental in order to become lean and more efficient within logistics. The main purposes of the department is the following:
* Engineer and industrialise standardized packaging solutions for European suppliers
* Develop and industrialise, according to logistic(VCMS) standard, cost efficient and quality assured packaging solutions for car plants globally
Main responsibilities
Responsible to manage, coach and support the team with the following main tasks:
* Member of Logistic Industrialisation Management Team
* Packaging engineering and industrialisation
* Agreement with suppliers on standard and one-way packaging in car projects
* Continuous improvements
* Ensure flawless project launch in terms of packaging development readiness / availability. Take appropriate action whenever required to secure this
* Car project packaging investments
Required qualifications
* Leadership skills and documented leadership experience
* Ability to guide and support the team and individuals in continuous development and improvements
* Ability to develop and maintain cross-functional networks
* Broad experience within the logistics field
* Experience of engineering work, including release and verification, in virtual phase within R&D or Manufacturing Engineering is an advantage
* Good communication and cooperative skills
* University degree in logistics or equivalent
* Fluent in English (written/spoken), Swedish preferred
Personal qualities
* Strong willingness to drive for lean and flow oriented solutions resulting in reduced Co2 emission & cost
* Strong willingness to drive for more cross-functional work
* Positive and enthusiastic team player with strong communication skills
* Result focus and ability to work proactive
