Saab is strengthening its global footprint in Anti-Tank Precision Fires and is now looking for a Manager - Mergers & Acquisitions to identify, evaluate and drive strategic growth opportunities that support this ambition and the continued development of Business Unit Ground Combat.
Business Unit Ground Combat develops and delivers advanced systems that help protect people and societies. At Saab, you will work with dedicated colleagues in an international environment where innovation, collaboration and responsibility go hand in hand. In this role, you will contribute directly to our strategic development and help strengthen Saab's position in key global markets.
The position is part of the Strategy and Portfolio department within Business Unit Ground Combat and reports to the Head of Strategy and Portfolio.
The position may be based in Karlskoga, Stockholm or Linköping, with travel within Sweden and internationally as required.
Your Role
You will lead and coordinate M&A activities from early opportunity assessment through execution and integration planning. Working closely with Business Unit leadership and Saab's corporate M&A team, you will help identify companies, technologies and partnerships that complement Ground Combat's capabilities and strengthen our position in key markets.
You will build a strong understanding of the global Anti-Tank Precision Fires landscape, assess strategic fit and develop recommendations that support long-term business objectives. In collaboration with Saab's corporate M&A team, you will coordinate due diligence, valuation, transaction structuring and negotiations, working closely with internal stakeholders and external advisers.
The role requires sound strategic judgement, strong financial and analytical capabilities, and the ability to build trusted relationships across a complex international organisation. You will translate market insights into actionable opportunities and help ensure that each transaction supports Ground Combat's strategy, values and responsible business practices.
Key responsibilities include:
Identify and assess potential M&A opportunities aligned with Business Unit Ground Combat's strategy, with a particular focus on strengthening Saab's global footprint in Anti-Tank Precision Fires.
Develop market, company and competitive analyses to support strategic decision-making.
Lead transaction processes in collaboration with Saab's corporate M&A team, including valuation, due diligence, business case development and deal structuring.
Coordinate input from business leaders, finance, legal, strategy, technology and other relevant functions.
Support negotiations and prepare recommendations and decision material for senior management.
Contribute to integration planning and post-acquisition follow-up to help realise the intended value of acquisitions.
Build and maintain relationships with potential acquisition targets, advisers and other external stakeholders.
Ensure that M&A activities are conducted with strong governance and in line with applicable laws, policies and Saab's standards for responsible business.
Your Profile
We believe you have experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, investment banking, strategy consulting or a related field. You are comfortable leading complex projects and engaging with senior stakeholders, combining detailed analysis with a clear understanding of strategic priorities.
You also bring:
Demonstrated experience from a similar role within a Tier-1 defence supplier, defence-related organisation or a comparable international environment.
Demonstrated project management experience involving complex, multi-stakeholder and preferably international projects.
Strong understanding of the defence sector.
Strong financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
The ability to assess strategic and commercial opportunities across international markets.
A structured, proactive and collaborative approach, with sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities.
A relevant university degree in business, finance, engineering, project management or a related discipline.
Experience within the defence industry, land systems or Anti-Tank Precision Fires is considered an advantage, as is familiarity with international industrial partnerships and complex regulatory environments.
