The role is part of our Quality Control team at Northvolt Labs, based in Västerås, Sweden. By joining us, you will be a key player in building up and being responsible for the mechanical quality control inspection processes of our R&D and Labs battery cell production lines and ultimately contribute towards making oil history.
About the job
As manager of the chemical quality control laboratory, you will lead a team of chemists and technicians performing and developing chemical analyses and inspections methods to characterise our raw materials and chemicals used in our various battery cell production lines. You will be responsible for managing the team, drive technical topics as well as be involved in hands-on production investigations related to our chemical components and processes when laboratory support is needed. In this role, we expect you to have an analytical mindset and a hands-on approach to your tasks. You enjoy diving into different topics and resolving bottlenecks, listening, and sharing knowledge across the team to build up competence, and you can effectively collaborate across group boundaries (Production Technology, R&D, Supplier Quality, Logistics, etc.) to continuously improve our mechanical characterisation and testing capabilities in the laboratory.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for all chemical process quality control inspections and materials characterisations involving raw materials and chemical components from our different production lines.
Continuously drive to improve process quality control process flows as well as be hands-on and collaborate across teams to address bottlenecks, investigate and resolve issues and improve the team's workflows.
Responsible to manage a team of technicians and chemists, ensure enough team members are trained to perform inspections, good people and leadership skills, challenges and helps both junior and senior team members to grow and develop in their role.
Drive technical projects, method validation studies, as well as participate in searching, validating and implementing new analytical characterisation methods and technologies together with engineers/chemists in the team.
Qualifications/education/experience
MSc in a related field (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, etc.)
At least 2+ years of industry experience working on topics and tasks related to materials characterisation, quality inspections, process quality controls in an R&D or production environment.
Strong experience with SPC, FMEA, Quality troubleshooting tools and problem-solving methodologies.
Proven track record in statistical and measurement system analysis (MSA) or validation studies in a laboratory or production environment.
Experience from automotive business or as a supplier to automotive business is an advantage together with experience of SC CC for components and what it means for quality controls and PPAP.
