The British Embassy in Sweden is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a full-time Maintenance Assistant.
The role sits within the Corporate Services Team and reports directly to the Deputy Corporate Services Manager. You are responsible for delivery of maintenance and repair works; in line with guidance issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Routine maintenance and inspections, repairs and minor project works for office, residential accommodation and grounds are carried out in an effective and efficient manner. Liaising with internal stakeholders and contractors as necessary.
• Perform, document and record Estate Property Inspections and Hazard Risk Assessments for Residential and non-Residential accommodation.
• Office & Events set up: Event Support at the Embassy and Ambassador's Residence.
• Other: Relief driver
Essential qualifications and experience.
• 3- 5 years documented experience of similar tasks (credentials are required to be presented at interview stage) - janitor/handyman or with facilities -management.
• Working knowledge of ventilation, heating, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Service oriented and able to manage client's expectations.
• IT literate ie proficient in using Microsoft office Suite.
• Proactive and flexible with a "Can do attitude".
• Positive and flexible outlook.
• To be highly organised and a team-player.
• The ability to speak and write both English and Swedish.
• A clean driving license.
Desirable qualifications and experience
• Practical painting and building experience;
• Knowledge of TAC heating monitoring system.

This is a full-time, flexible working, permanent contract (40 hours per week).
All applicants should have the right to live and work in Sweden. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.
Please note that being a Locally Employed staff by the British Embassy will not give access to be registered with the Swedish population registry. According to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs the locally employed staff should be either Swedish citizens or permanent residents, i.e. registered with the population registry before starting the employment.
