Job Description:
Linux System Admin/Technician
Position:
You will be working with Linux on the z platform (Mainframe) you are probably a Linux technician with an interest of mainframe. As a Mainframe Engineer, you will be part of a multicultural team of European, American and Indian coworkers. You will be responsible for customer environments and for different products. You will take care of the different aspects of the life cycle of these products: installation, customization and maintenance. The mission also includes customer contacts, incident handling, problem solving, performance and change management, and development and documentation of operational procedures.
General qualifications:
Fluency in oral and written English.
Proactive, responsible and methodical
Automation mindset
Business orientation and ability to establish good relationships
Good communication, team spirit
Ability to work in a structured way with objectives given by a remote team leader
Technical qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSAs)
The candidate selected for this role will have Knowledge of:
z Architecture, Basic knowledge.
Linux Operating system Good knowledge.
IBM WebSphere application server or other application servers like Jboss.
System design, implementation and documentation.
System monitoring, problem analysis and tuning.
Problem isolations and resolution.
Scripting and PHP.
Knowledge of z/OS especially USS is a plus.
The candidate selected for this role will have the Skills to:
Maintain and demonstrate a working knowledge of Linux especially Red-Hat distro.
Manage the activities related to backup, archive and recovery.
Use software tools on both mainframe and PC platforms.
Maintenance and tuning of Linux and z/OS based tools, software, etc.
Report unresolved software anomalies to the team leader and the appropriate vender.
The candidate selected for this role will have the Ability to:
Install, maintain and monitor Linux systems and products for performance enhancements.
Review, analyze, and resolve product problems.
Read, interpret and implement established specifications.
Apply problem-solving skills sufficient to perform fault isolation and initiate corrective action.
Read and interpret technical and business information.
Education:
BE, BTECH, ME, MTECH, MCA or matching knowledge/skill level achieved in other ways.
