Together, we generate and refine research results and ideas based primarily on forest raw materials.RISE Energy Technology Center (ETC) performs research covering our thematic focus areas of sustainable hydrocarbon fuels, carbon free energy solutions, computer based process optimization and high value-added materials. Within our business there are currently around 25 employees, mainly researchers, engineers and technical staff.RISE ETC now seeks a Machine learning engineerPlacement: PiteåAbout the workRISE ETC wishes to increase the share of applied machine learning for industrial applications in its portfolio. We have successfully completed similar, state-of-the-art projects recently. You will take part in applied machine learning projects that are aimed to improve efficiency in the heavy, metallurgical, chemical and process industries. You will contribute to designing, implementing and maintaining machine learning pipelines and workflows related to these projects. Your work will include data and machine learning engineering tasks and setting up suitable data infrastructures in collaboration with industrial clients. You will make suggestions regarding preferable machine learning pipelines to solve practical problems. You will contribute to creating and maintaining a comprehensive codebase for templating applied machine learning projects.About youYou believe that machine learning will improve safety, emissions and efficiency in industrial processes and contribute to transitioning to a sustainable society. You become excited when you think about that you can help achieve this vision.You enjoy working with data and providing insight through data modeling. You are detail-oriented, hands-on, a problem solver and have a can-do attitude. You have personal interest and motivation in growing as a data engineer or data scientist, and you prosper to eventually contribute to the machine learning field.You are primarily a Python programmer, and are familiar with several other programming languages. You use modern machine learning frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, Torch or CNTK on a daily basis. You enjoy creating reusable code and take pride in writing quality software. You are familiar with object-oriented and/or functional programming approaches. You are open minded, a quick learner and easy to work with. An advanced degree in a quantitative field or domain knowledge in the listed industries are a plus, but not a requirement.Terms: Full time employment with a 6 months probationary employment period. Terms in accordance with the collective agreement.
