Position description:
At Inbound Logistics, you are part of a team that makes sure that the cars we build meet the highest expectations from our customers. To make this happen, we secure that all incoming transportation is designed, established, optimized and executed, cost efficiently and with exact precision. Are you service and business minded? The role of Logistics Engineer Local Transport Control Torslanda is located within the operational transport function within the Inbound Logistics organization (IBL) and will report to the Manager Road Transport Control. The purpose of the Logistics Engineer role is to ensure planned transports are slot planned and arrive on schedule. You will have a crucial role, along with 3 colleagues within the Inbound organization managing all transports arriving into VCT within the coming 24hrs. The role is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Main task for the Logistics Engineer:
• Operational Planning and execution of inbound transportation with a focus on Inbound Road transportations
The Logistics Engineer is responsible for:
• Secure operational transportation performance within area of responsibility
• Ensure that external providers are performing according to the agreed term
• Cooperate with internal Volvo Cars' stakeholders
• Communicate with central functions, local plants and contracted logistics parties.
Competence requirements:
• 2 year's experience of transportation planning and/or freight forwarding processes within a large carrier or forwarding environment
• Knowledge of freight forwarding operations
• Knowledge of iNet TMS is advantageous.
• Preferably experience of automotive OEM inbound logistics
• Ability to quickly assess complex critical situations and suggest solutions as required
• Service minded
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure
• Strong English language skills.
