The departments main purpose is to industrialise new product programs and other larger logistic process changes in the plant according to Volvo Cars Manufacturing System (VCMS) principles and Volvo Product Development System (VPDS) milestone deliverables and support in the running operation. The departments three main responsibility areas is Material Handling Engineering (MHE), Packaging Engineering (PE) and IT Logistic application Engineering (IT).
The team contribute to the department responsibilities with the main areas:
* Industrialisation of new logistic processes. Deliver project according to VPDS requirements regarding new product programs.
* Business and people management.
* Standardise and create efficiency for the departments and all processes.
* Drive global commonality.
* Participation and input towards industrial structure and strategies.
As an Material Handling Engineer you are mainly responsible for the logistic industrialisation includes planning, preparation, design and implementation within a specific plant. Within your field of work there is included to:
* Design and implementation of new in plant material flows incl. transports from RDC/LC
* Design and implementation of material handling equipment incl. industrial vehicles.
* Layout management.
* Optimal introduction of Product Changes in view of the physical material flow including updating of related parameters in the involved material systems.
* Design an optimal usage of the available surface within the plant in scope of the in plant Logistic flows, lay out management.
* Develop new internal material flows within the plant and outsourced logistic areas.
* Drive the logistic equipment and tooling applied within the physical material flow.
* Optimal design of the transport flow interface between local suppliers/Logistic Providers, outside logistic operations, yard operations and the plant.
* Engineering of logistic off-line sequence activities performed.
* Define all functionalities related to the IT systems applied within the In Plant Logistic process.
* Set-up of external warehouses and sequence center's in terms of the in plant logistics interface.
* Develop and maintain tools in view of an optimal forklift fleet park.
* Drive the optimization process for the running transport packaging.
* Development of Internal logistic racks.
Requirements
* Bachelor or Master Degree in Logistic engineering.
* Excellent knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
* Fluent in English, written and spoken.
* Knowledge and experience in logistics and material handling.
* Knowledge and experience in LEAN Logistics.
