Due to staff parental leave, The British International School of Stockholm wishes to employ an enthusiastic and dedicated librarian. Whilst being involved in leading library and research sessions with students, the successful candidate will also be involved with everyday library tasks.
The role
The main tasks will include:
Using Follett Destiny library management system
Organising and managing the library and both physical and online resources to meet the needs of the school's curriculum
Acquiring popular and up to date fiction in consultation with students
Leading library or reading centred events such as book week and author visits to promote literacy
Collaborating with the Primary Librarian to ensure purpose, quality and consistency
Collaborating with teaching staff to ensure library resources support the curriculum
Communicating effectively with all staff
The successful candidate will:
be fluent in both verbal and written English (essential)
be a flexible team player with good interpersonal skills (essential)
be able to work independently (essential)
have relevant school-based experience (desirable)
have a high level of awareness of children's and young adult's literature (desirable)
have knowledge and practical understanding of primary approaches to teaching and learning (desirable)
be eligible to live and work in Sweden (or have EU citizenship)
