The University of Gothenburg announces a new position as Senior Lecturer in Mathematical Statistics directed towards statistical inference at the Department of Mathematical Sciences. The department, which is run in close collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology, has a broad theoretical research portfolio with applications primarily in the engineering, biological and medical sciences. The department is host for the Swedish Research Council's and Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research's strong research environments Stochastic Centre and Gothenburg Mathematical Modelling Center. The department has about 170 employees of which about 50 work in Mathematical Statistics. We are looking to strengthen our research within statistical inference theory, as well as our teaching in mathematical statistics at undergraduate and graduate levels. We want you to have experience from and great interest in applied research and co-operation with researchers in science and engineering.

Qualification requirement:
Qualified for the employment as a lecturer is a person with a PhD and a university degree in pedagogic, or otherwise acquired corresponding competence and that has shown pedagogic skills. (HF 4 7)
Assessments:
The following criteria will be used in assessment of the applications received:
• Documented teaching experience, undergraduate student supervision, results from course evaluations and teaching material produced by the applicant,
• Research record and graduate student supervision
• Ability to attract external research grants from national as well as international funding agencies.
• Experience of and interest in applied research and collaboration with researchers in other areas of science.
• Experience of statistical work outside of the academic sphere.
• Documented ability to lead and administer teaching and research.
• Ability to teach in English. The successful candidate is expected to teach in Swedish after two years of employment.
• Stress will be laid on scientific qualifications and pedagogical competence.
• The assessment will be made with the help of external experts and references, and will include an interview and a scientific seminar or lecture.
