hela Sverige The Administration Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Legal Counsel.
Description of position/department
As the Legal Counsel you report directly to the Head of Administration. You will be responsible to develop and build-up the legal function at ESS. You will advise and support all company departments in legal issues, in a significant cross-functional interaction with Executives, Directors as well as with scientific and technical departments within ESS organisation.
Description of main responsibilities
• Develop and implement legal processes.
• Manage legal department's processes for contract processes and procedures.
• Support to the Management in the overall process of putting agreements into place, i.e. preparation, negotiation, execution. Agreements such as; collaboration and research, in-kind, license, real estate and confidentiality agreements.
• Ensure compliance with national and international laws.
• Interact with external legal specialists when required.QualificationsSkills and Experience
• Master degree in Law or equivalent.
• A minimum of 10 years of practical legal experience, i.e. law firm with client contact and/or prior in-house corporate experience.
• Experience of working in an international environment is essential.
• Excellent oral and written English are a pre-requisite; knowledge of other European languages is considered an advantage.
• Superior skills in contract drafting, reviewing and negotiation.
• Knowledge of legal compliance involving general business law.
• Extensive experience within research, administration, written and analytical reporting.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Excellent organisational skill.
• Being able to work within a rapidly growing fast paced environment.
• Experience from large research facilities and international/cross-border work is considered an advantage. What ESS can offer

The European Spallation Source ESS AB will design, build and operate a multi-disciplinary, large-scale research infrastructure based on the world's most powerful neutron source. ESS will provide scientists with unique and powerful neutron scattering instruments for the study of a large range of materials - from polymers and pharmaceuticals to membranes and molecules. The ESS project is partnered by 17 European countries, and hosted by Sweden and Denmark. The ESS will be built in Lund, Sweden, by a collaboration of European scientists and engineers. ESS is planned to produce the first neutrons by 2019. When the facility is in full operation 2025, ESS has around 450 employees.
