Learning Support Teacher in PYP and MYP
Allmän information:
The International School of the Stockholm Region is a publicly funded international school which exists primarily to serve the educational needs of the transient and/or international community of Stockholm.
The school runs the International Baccalaureate's curricula. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is offered to students from 5-11 years of age and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is offered to students from 11-16 and the Diploma Programme (DP) is offered to students from 16-19 years of age. The school's language of instruction is English for all subjects. At ISSR students can receive an internationally recognized education in English from 5 to 19 years of age in one location in the centre of Stockholm.
Tjänstebeskrivning:
ISSR is looking for an experienced learning support teacher to support students in the Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme (students aged between 5-15 years). The learning support teacher at ISSR is part of the student care team and works with students who need additional support primarily in literacy and mathematics. The position includes identifying individual needs using selected assessment tools. The learning support teacher is responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment through an inclusive and holistic approach. The learning support teacher has experience in working with various student constellations depending on student needs. There is an ongoing expectation to work closely with the teachers, learning assistants and the student care team to facilitate learning. We place emphasis on flexibility in approach with colleagues and students and a desire to work collaboratively and consistently with a commitment to the whole school ethos.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan for and teach identified students according to needs in PYP and MYP
- Monitor and document the progress of students
- Be an active member of the Student Care Teams in PYP and MYP
- Provide academic and pedagogic guidance and consultation to staff and parents
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists when applicable
- Participate in school activities (assemblies, evening events, conferences, etc.)
- Follow ongoing research and development on alternative/ compensatory aid for students in need of support
Qualifications:
- Certified teacher with specialization in special needs/ learning support for primary and/ or middle school
- Professional competence in English (written and spoken)
Other qualifications may include:
- IB teaching experience and training
- Experience working in an international school environment
