The Project Support & Administration Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Learning & Development Specialist.

Description of division

The purpose of the HR division is to be a service function, supporting the ESS organisation with staffing, employee service, strategic support, work environment, compensation & benfits and learning & development. The division consists of 12 colleagues, all with different skills and areas of knowledge. The atmosphere in the HR division is friendly, the work load is often high and the tasks are of great variation and complexity. ESS is a young organisation, and parts of the HR structure is still being set up.

Description of main responsibilities

We are now looking for a colleague with great experience in the learning & development area to lead and develop these activities. As part of our HR team, you will contribute to the strategy and design of main activities within training, succession planning, career development and talent management. Ultimately, you will help our organisation succeed by training and developing its people. ESS Environment, Safety and Health organisation is an important interface to the L&D role in HR as environment and safety training has a key role both for scientific users and employees.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Create and execute learning strategies and programs
• Develop and structure career development processes
• Develop and structure succession planning processes
• Evaluate organisational talent managementand staff planningneeds
• Implement various learning methods companywide (e.g. coaching, job-shadowing, online training)
• Design and deliver HR related e-learning courses, workshops and other trainings
• Select and assign instructors or vendors to conduct HR related training and develop the overall training library
• Assess the success of development plans and help the organisation make the most of learning opportunities
• Act as an advisory, support and inspirational function for managers in L&D-related matters
• Design the strategy of the ESS Learning Management System (LMS)
• Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, or consultations with managers or instructors
• Monitor and evaluate training programs to ensure they are in line with the learning strategy
• Perform administrative tasks such as plan and enroll HR related trainings, monitoring costs and follow up statistics and KPI 's

Included in the daily work for all members in the HR-team is to continuously work with improvements of HR processes, employee support and coaching and mentoring managers on HR best practice.

Qualifications

In this role, you should be passionate about helping people and organisations to grow and learn. You have experience from implementing and developing talent management as well as learning management systems. You are comfortable with working independently as well as keen to contribute to good team work. Excellent communication skills are essential as well as a genuine interest in people and development.

Furthermore, you have:

• An academic degree in Business Administration or equivalent
• Proven experience as an L&D Specialist/Manager, or similar
• Profound knowledge of effective learning and development methods
• Profound knowledge about Talent Management Systems best practices (learning, succession planning, staff planning, performance & development etc.)
• Excellent oral and written English skills

Duration & Location

The position is a permanent position with a 6 months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
