Mechatronics & Tuning Steering & Brakes group, part of Vehicle Control & Chassis is responsible for the development of Steering functions and software. Steering system is an area which undergoes fast changes to meet new requirements from "Autonomous" driving and active functions, where we closely follow new trends in the industry.
I am now looking for a Lead engineer to my team. You will have a central role within the group, managing future projects from concept phase into production.
We have the mission to offer steering feel & functionality to support both today's technology and next generation self-driving cars. What we do, will have direct influence on vehicle dynamic.
We design our system to support the toughest regulations for system safety, in order to provide a safe experience for our customers. Our system is an enabler for many customer features such as Lane keeping aid, Self-driving cars and more. Upcoming platforms will move towards in-house software and function development in order to get more freedom to design our systems.
As Lead Engineer within our team you will be responsible for the in-time delivery of the software content in one or more of our projects. You will be responsible to establish and develop relationships with representatives and stakeholders from many areas of the vehicle meaning you will therefore build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Cars. Your closest team will include software responsible, function and system owner, test & verification engineers and suppliers. Volvo Cars is looking for an open-minded, self-driven person that gets energy by delivery in time, solving problems, handling time plans and understands the need for good documentation. You should be used lead and present your project both orally and written. What you get is a manager that believes in people and encourage initiatives and ownership. Main Responsibilities:
* Manage a team and assure that the deliveries are done in time
* Take lead in technical discussions, both internal and external
* Report project status
* Maintain a good contact to supplier and colleagues within other Volvo
departments
Required Qualifications:
* University degree (Master or equivalent) i.e. Programming, Computer Science, Electronics, etc...
* A minimum of 1 year experience as a project lead within software content, preferrably from the automotive industry or in-house software development
* Fluent in English both written and spoken
* Must currently have a Driver's license B (car)
* Understanding of principles behind configuration management
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience from embedded system including hardware and software development
* Experience of model based developed software
* Experience from system engineering or related components/systems
* Experience from scrum based development
* Fluent in Swedish both written and spoken

* Great communication skills
* Self-managed, while being a good team player and leader

* Proactively looking for solutions
