ABB Process Automation and our Process Industries division delivers state-of-the-art electrification and automation solutions across various sectors, including Mining, Pulp & Paper, Metals, and more. Our expertise in digitalization and automation helps our customers enhance productivity, reduce costs, and achieve sustainability goals. In the Hoisting sector, we lead the market by developing new systems and optimizing existing ones, and we are now seeking a dynamic and skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team.
In the role as Lead Project Electrical Engineer, you will be the technical authority for hoisting projects, overseeing the entire lifecycle from design to commissioning. You'll work closely with project teams to deliver solutions that meet customer expectations, and you'll have the opportunity to work globally, including potential assignments in South Africa, Canada, and Australia.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead and execute engineering activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and customer specifications.
• Collaborate with sales and project managers to provide technical input and cost estimates for proposals.
• Design and optimize electrical and automation systems for hoisting solutions.
• Support commissioning activities and ensure timely project delivery.
• Resolve complex technical issues on-site and remotely, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Engage with global teams to share best practices and drive process improvements.
Qualifications for the role
5+ years in large-scale industry projects, including design, installation, and commissioning. Experience in the mining sector is a plus.
Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on safety, innovation, and customer-centric solutions. Excellent communication skills in English.
High level of self-motivation, curiosity, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
